Its been a while I read something so deep, so fast. I laughed, cried, and reflected theoyh the entirety of this book. I saw other reviews stating how good this was but I wasn't prepared. I recommend to anyone who wants to be shaken and inspired, page by page.

While the memoir contains profanity and dark moments, her strength and how she channels it into her art and faces life's challenges head-on is profoundly moving. This is one of the best memoirs by an African American woman I've ever read. It's an inspiring and powerful story that encourages women to find beauty within themselves, confront life’s traumas, and live authentically.

Wow! What a powerful storyteller! I felt so emotional for her in both her triumphs and sorrows. It is amazing what a family can overcome with such challenges as poverty, abuse, racism and addiction Viola Davis is a strong and beautiful woman inside and out!

Words cannot describe how much I’m moved emotionally reading this memoir. I couldn’t stop reading the next page even if I wanted to. A riveting and absolutely inspiring memoir of trauma, abuse, healing, faith, and most importantly love.
